  5. has a large collection of PD and shareware PC programs available by
  6. anonymous ftp and mail server. The file /pc/ts/0news-ts contains
  7. news about the TS-programs in the /pc/ts directory (in reverse
  8. order). This text, which you now have, is an extract from the
  9. 0news-ts file.

  17. Sat 12-Feb-94: I have updated my additional text-file filters for
  18. binary and text files to be garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tsfltc16.zip by
  19. adding a /f switch (force overwrite if source = destination) to
  20.  DETAB.EXE "Expand tabs properly into blanks"

  22. Fri 25-Dec-92: Updated my third filter collection. It is now
  23. garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tstsfltc15.zip.

  29. Thu 26-Nov-92: I have upgraded my third filter collection to be
  30. garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tsfltc14.zip.
  31.    The program CUT.EXE "Extract or delete text columns" has been
  32. updated. Added a /s switch for optionally suppressing empty lines.
  33.    A have included a new program CUTW.EXE "Extract or delete text by
  34. words". It has several convenient features like defining the word
  35. delimiters, option to start from the end of the line, optional
  36. suppression of empty lines, and multiple ranges.
  37.    Added FILE_ID.DIZ "Brief characterization of TSFLTC". Some BBS
  38. systems scan for a FILE_ID.DIZ in uploaded packages and if found use
  39. its contents as the description in their annotated file list.

  41. Sat 28-Mar-92: I have updated my third filter collection making it
  42. garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tsfltc13.zip by adding ROT13.EXE which rotates
  43. ascii text by 13 positions. This is often used as an elementary
  44. encryption technique for public but somehow sensitive texts.
  45. ROT13.EXE works both ways because the method is transitive.  It
  46. rotates unrotated text and unrotates rotated text. My version of
  47. ROT13.EXE is "clever" in the sense that it can detect redirection,
  48. and thus if you don't direct any input to it, it will give you the
  49. instructions.

  51. Thu 30-Jan-92: I have updated to garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tsfltc12.zip.
  52. It is a futher collection of my filters that you can customize
  53. yourself. The filter DETAB.EXE for filtering tabs now has the
  54. following enhancements:
  55. - A new optional keep switch (/k) to make the date/time stamp of the
  56.   destination file the same as that of the source text file.
  57. - To allow the source text file and the destination file be the
  58.   same. In other words the programs can now make the conversion
  59.   without forcing you to produce new files with names different from
  60.   the original.
  61. - The programs first test whether the source file is a proper text
  62.   file with MsDos #13#10 eolns, no special characters (#0..#6, #8,
  63.   #11, #14..#25, #28..#31), and no lines exceeding 254 characters in
  64.   length. If not the conversion will not be attempted.

  66. Sat 17-Aug-91: The inkjet printer I am using at office does not have
  67. an adequate NLQ option for quality printing so I decided to program
  68. a simple but useful filter REP.EXE which repeats each line of a text
  69. file three times (by default). The filter also can but in a left
  70. margin, and send preamble and postamble escape sequences. The filter
  71. is part of my updated filter package /pc/ts/tsfltc11.arc.
